Disciplines of Fasting and Abstinence

  • Catholics in good health ages 18 - 59 are required to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting consists of eating less (reducing your overall food consumption by one meal) and eliminating snacks.
  • Catholics age 14 and older are to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays during Lent.
