Baptism
The recommended age for baptism within the Catholic Church is as an infant, and all parents are required to attend one Baptism Preparation Session before the child is baptized. (Attendance before the birth of the child is recommended.) It is also highly recommended that the godparents for the child to be baptized to attend the preparation session.
Eucharist
The first reception of the Sacrament of Eucharist is normally celebrated in the spring of a child’s 2nd grade year. All 2nd grade children need to be enrolled in either Most Pure Heart of Mary School or Religious Education Program and must have a baptism certificate on file with either MPHM School or Christian Formation Office. All parents of children preparing to receive this sacrament are required to attend two Parent Preparation Sessions.
Anyone who contacts us after October of the 2nd grade year or later will need to attend the RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children).
Penance
The first reception of the Sacrament of Penance is normally celebrated in the fall of a child’s 2nd grade year. All 2nd grade children need to be enrolled in either Most Pure Heart of Mary School or Religious Education Program and must have a baptism certificate on file with either MPHM School or Christian Formation Office. All parents of children preparing to receive this sacrament are required to attend two Parent Preparation Sessions.
Anyone who contacts us after October of the 2nd grade year or later will need to attend the RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children).
The Sacrament of Penance is regularly celebrated at:
- 3:00-3:45 p.m. each Saturday
- 7:15-7:45 a.m. on the first Saturday of the month
- 12:15-1:00 p.m. each Wednesday
Confirmation
The normal age for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation at Most Pure Heart of Mary is during the 8th grade year of school. All 8th graders need to be enrolled in either Most Pure Heart of Mary School or Religious Education Program and must have a baptism certificate on file with either MPHM School or
Christian Formation Offices. Preparation Sessions for those involved with Confirmation are as follows:
- One Parent/Candidate Session in September of the 8th grade year
- One Candidate/Sponsor Retreat
- One Parent Session
Anyone who contacts us after October of the 8th grade year or later will need to attend the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults).
Matrimony
