Teacher Bio

John Livingston is no stranger to the classroom, or to the Catholic community of Topeka and the Archdiocese.  He is a graduate of Sacred Heart Elementary School and Hayden High School.  He serves as the Youth Minister both at Most Pure Heart of Mary and at Mater Dei parish, where for a number of years he has also filled the position of Director of Religious Education and teaches the 8th grade confirmation class.  He formerly was the Archdiocesan coordinator for Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) and still serves on the core group for that program, as well as filling various roles on the retreat teams.  John earned his degree in History and Secondary Education at Washburn University, where he was awarded the Nall public speaking award, Teacher of Promise, and Outstanding Secondary Teacher, and has since added his certification for middle school ELA. This Summer he participated in The Flint Hills Writing Project at Emporia State, adding to his resume the title of National Writing Project Teacher Consultant. John has two beautiful daughters who have given him two beautiful granddaughters (his older granddaughter, Maura, is in kindergarten here at MPHM). In his spare time he loves to read or listen to audio books, play his guitar, and enjoys sci-fi and programs like Marvel's Agents of Shield, Star Trek, Star Wars, and Dr. Who.
